Hi there to all you crafty minds out there, I would like introduce you to creator/owner of Sassy Shuga’s Boutique. This weekend we have another that inspires me because she does it all, she sews, she crochets, I mean she is just an around crafty person. She is another of my cyber friends that I have yet to meet, but considers my friend. So we had a little cyber chat, wanna listen in?

~Hey Sherry, I love the name Sassy Shuga’s Boutique, how did you come up with that name?

My best friend and I came up the name after I struggled with names for days. I wanted something that said that I sold boutique items but was unique , however neither sassy or boutique was unique so I played on the word “sugar” and spelled it “Shuga”. So I like to think that I sell sassy and sweet boutique like items!

~Love it!! How long have you been making homemade crafts and who taught you?

I have been making things since I was a little girl. My mom was always a crafty person. She always made things for our home. During the summer months she kept me and my sister busy with crafts.  I was always fascinated that you could take one thing and make it into something totally different and beautiful. So I guess I can blame, oh I mean thank my mom for my crafty addiction! 😀

~Ahhh blame it on Mommy! LOL! So tell me what came first the Boutique or the blog? I love your blog BTW

The boutique. I always knew that I wanted to be a blogger, but the boutique came first.

~Oh ok, do you have a favorite item that you make/sell?

This is a tuff question because I don’t think I have a favorite right now. I just love everything!

~What advice would you give to a new blogger? Your blog is Awesome!

One of the important things is being consistent. It is hard to do but pick a schedule and stick to it. Read other blogs and like and comment on their post. I always remember a saying that I grew up on, “in order to have a friend you have to be one”. Think of blogging in that sense. It truly is a great way to build an audience, get ideas and learn new things about blogging and your interest. Lastly, keep it fun! If you don’t relax and have fun you are going to miss the whole positive experience.

~That’s great advice, thanks. Ok last question, I noticed you have an Etsy, any advice on maintaining a successful shop?

To me Etsy is a constant process. I am always changing something around In my shop based on something new I have learned or if something isn’t working. You have to be reasonable. Don’t think by putting a few items in a shop with a few pictures is going to equal sales. It takes work. Lots and lots of work. Learn your target market and appeal to them. Work on photos, tags and titles constantly. Find out what works in your shop and stick with it.

~More great advice, thank you Sherry for taking the time to talk to me.  You can find Sherry all over social media Facebook, her Etsy shop or on her Blog
