Mistake

Side to side shawl| I made a mistake

I made a mistake 😏as I was attempting a shawl knit sideways. What happened, GG ran out of yarn. I ran out of yarn before I got to the other side. I am beyond annoyed. Can you believe I made a mistake with this beautiful yarn? Remember I talked about this yarn in this post? When I look back I realize I should have weighed my yarn and marked the halfway point.

I was so loving how the colors were unfolding AND the material that this gauge created. Look at that orange streak in the middle. UGH you know I love that right? Clearly I have to really take into account the amount of yarn when knitting sideways.

The Solution

I will rip it out and make a shawl bottom up. Please know my heart is broke! I have no choice this yarn must be used because the fabric was just lovely!

Do you all have any advice? If I wanted to try a shawl like this again, what do you all recommend so I don’t run out of yarn?

NOTE: Today is my Grandmother’s birthday so I am going to have to cast on something that makes me smile..because I am sad enough on my own. It took me to notice the date to figure out why this error almost brought me to tears! LOL

Knit on my fiber friends….knit on

  1. Try just ripping back to less then halfway and weighing the ball and then the partial shawl. Rip until you have 1/2 in the shawl and 1/2 in the ball.
Hugs. These things happen….. knit happens and then you knit again….

  2. GG tomorrow would have been my mom’s 91st birthday. She only made it to 71 in real life…but she’s still with me everywhere I go. 😇..hugs to you.
