Work in progress – WIP Wednesday

Hey y’all it’s Wip Wednesday and I haven’t done a post on here in bit. This current WIP, will take some time because it’s fingering weight and a US6 needle 👀

You guys know PurlSoho gets me every time right? Well they posted this pattern a few weeks back and my hands started itching 😱. I had to make one, the texture caught my attention immediately.

Current WIP

The pattern is called Floats Cowl and oh yea I wanted to float too! 😂😂 Well I was excited until I saw that cast on 😮! They want me to cast on how many?! Man listen, this almost didn’t happen.

I was gifted the newest base in the YarnPimp yarn from Do Ewe Knit? Thank you Karen! This MCN is in a color called Harvest and I am in love ❤️. Initially I wasn’t sure the pattern would work, since this isn’t a solid color, boy was I wrong. I sat there in the shop and cast on all 300+ stitches, whew typing that made me tired again. Lol

NOTE: the bag comes from Do Ewe Knit and the needles are Lykke Driftwood and I like them 😊

I have done a few rounds and I have frogged a few as well! Lol! Honestly, I am still amazed at what you can create with 2 simple stitches. The pattern is a two row repeat that works up quite nicely. The slip stitch is creating the detail and I love it! The pattern calls for sports weight but I’m using fingering. Look at me trying to be a grown up knitter, lol!

This WIP will take some time to complete, so I am taking my time so I don’t have anymore mistakes.  I plan to take it with me for the ride to Rhinebeck and I promise to come show you the completed Cowl.

What are you working on? Head on over to the Facebook fan page and get inspired. The fiber family always has great WIPS to share.

Knit on my fiber friends…knit on

Beautiful work, beautiful effect! It will be fun to see how you like (tolerate?) the smaller yarn. Making another fingertip towel with pima (mercerized, I think) from my lys. I like a change now and again, and the tiny work is so portable. Would like to start on a new baby blanket pattern — but life has a way of wearing me out <:o) It is always such a treat to get something from you in the inbox. Big gratitude to you, always. Hugs, Margaret p.s. My dear daughter is in Rhinebeck right now, for a different reason — week-long writers' workshop at Omega.

  2. OMG baby blankets! Right?!!!
I admire both your tenacity, GG, and Peggy’s, with the smaller weights and can’t wait to see your finished work. And am looking forward to your Rhinebeck posts as well.
At the moment, I’m into your “Easiest Cowl Ever” and matching fingerless/texting mitts for Christmas gifts for family who live in NE Ohio.
Also making cotton super-stretchy market bags for my earth-loving friends.
My husband and I were in Laguna Beach this past weekend for a 6K trail run and had our “yay we finished and lived to tell” lunch at a very good, very fun bistro named GG’s!!! I loved the connection! 🙂
