Chapter 50 starts now. GGmadeit or GG MADE it! Yes I made whatever handmade knits I am wearing AND I made through the storms to my Chapter 50 in this life. Folks tell me I don’t look 50, well I am not sure what that looks like, but I was born August 5th 1966

So I though it would be fun to list 50 facts about me..lol don’t laugh at me

1. I am really 50 years old today, I promise I am. Happy Birthday to me!!

2. I was born with my thumb in my mouth an extra finger. I stopped at the age of 18 but if I see a kid sucking their thumb my mouth waters

3. I take so many selfies because for more than half my life I didn’t think I was pretty

4. I miss my mom. No matter your relationship treasure your mom if you still have her, it sucks when they are gone

5. I cry everyday, sometimes just for a few minutes and other times, well…I cry. Grieving has no expiration date.

6. I know I have more yarn than I will ever use…but so what

7. I wish I was taught to manage money as a young adult

8. I miss eating the skin off the fatback and ONLY that part. I never ate the fatty part.

9. I use to go out of my way to please folks..make sure they were happy before I even considered myself.

10. I make a mean sweet potato pie (my Moma taught me)

11. There is life after losing a job or a parent, I was sure my life was over but baby GG made it

12. Michael Jackson was my first crush

13. I dread the 4th of July and Labor Day because I never had a large family

14. I was always ashamed of my skin tone

15. I love my dark skin now

16. My grandmother is the reason I am who I am. She taught me to have integrity, to laugh, to love, and to react to my name only. She reinforced that I am not any of the names I was called (fatso, blackie, 4eyes) I am Gaye Glasspie, PERIOD

17. I wish I had a better relationship with my dad (RIP)

18. When I post music videos on Facebook, please know I am singing at the top of my lungs

19. My best creation yet is Shelbey Monae

20. When I was a kid my grandmother always took me to see the Rockettes

21. I wear my favorite watch and it doesn’t work

22. I am single and for the first time ever I am comfy with being by myself. It took all this time for me to realize that I need to like/love me before anyone else

23. I know for a fact that every opportunity in life teaches you 2 things: what to do and what not to do

24. I love everyone first. I like to love, I like to help, but do NOT, I repeat DO NOT PISS ME OFF

25. 24 without Jack Bauer is NOT 24 PERIOD

26. Anytime I watch Golden Girls I laugh/cry because that was my grandmother’sfavorite shows. I miss that lady

27. I don’t like Super Bowl parties because I want to watch the game not socialize

28. I am such a procrastinator

29. I have never smoked and never will

30. I had 1 fight in my life and that was because I was afraid of my mother 😂 I’d fight a brick before I got in trouble on purpose

31. Although orange is my favorite color, I was afraid to wear it because I was always told I was too dark.. Hmph in chapter 50 imma find me some orange panties

32. My favorite flavor of cream of wheat is Apple Cinnamon and I can’t find it anymore

33. I like spinach dip but won’t eat spinach

34. I don’t eat collard greens and yes I am 100% black

35. My dream job is to travel the world visiting yarn stores and sharing my finds with my fiber friends

36. I watched both my parents take their last breath. A sight can never unsee

37. I cry when I watch national geographic

38. During hurricane season I watch the weather channel like its a prime time special

39. Every time there is a full moon, I am so sure my mommy is watching me

40. I have the best set of friends a person can ask for and I love them all!

41. I often worry about my future, but I refuse to give up

42. I fell and broke my finger but I didn’t have insurance so it’s not straight

43. I know avoiding situations I am afraid of doesn’t make them go away, but I avoid anyway

44. I know folks are always watching you so I always behave in a way that would make my Moma proud

45. I always make too much spaghetti because it’s so much better the next day

46. Meca Johnson and I have really been friends since we were 5 and she will always be my OLDEST friend 😂😂😂

47. I use to have such a crush on Eddie Murphy

48. My middle finger is crooked

49. I have not had a permanent job in 4 years but I’m still here

50. My ideal day is spent surrounded by love and yarn

Thank you all for being a part of my life,  I am ready for the next chapter

    Happy Birthday GG, you diffinately don’t look 50!! I loved this list. It made me laugh, sad and could relate to many of the 50. I thought turning 60 was the most horrific thing ever, it wasn’t. 😂😂
    You always have such a positive attitude and I love reading your blog. Keep up the great work and enjoy your life!!!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY GG!!! (#42: Don’t feel bad, I fell and broke my pinkie finger and I DO have insurance and I DID go to the Dr. and he didn’t send me right to a hand specialist – which he admitted later he should have done – so mine’s permanently crooked, too. Ah well. I don’t use it much knitting. :^> )

    #13: I don’t have a large family either. I am the only member of my immediate family! I have been adopted by several of my close friends, old friends and their families! I can adopt or I can just say you’re my cousin! LOL!

    Happy belated birthday GG. I’ve been reading your blog silently until now, but wanted to wish you your best year yet. I’m dreading hitting 50 and am not sure why. Thankfully I still have a few years to figure things out before I get there.
