A sweater!? GG you’ve made a sweater before. Is that your thought process? Yes I read minds too! Lol! I have done cardigans but never an actual sweater, until now.
The story
Did you know I loved hearts? Yup that’s the other thing I obsess over. When I saw this sweater with the big ole heart on the back, I screamed.
After the initial excitement, I realized I didn’t have the yarn so this would have to wait. I need to do better with purchasing enough yarn to make a sweater, but I digress. Sunday Do Ewe Knit had a holiday party, see the Vlog here
The sale room was 75% off which meant I could make my big ole heart! I grabbed grey and red because I forgot about my orange gift from Bonnye. Woo Hoo my heart would be orange, PERFECT!
My review: the pattern
The pattern is called Pilot Pullover by Amanda Kaffka. In my opinion it’s the perfect this-is-my-first-sweater project. It includes the basics and some color work. Wait, I get confused with the names, is this Intarsia? Well what ever it’s called your tension is key.
I love the construction too, as I am intimidated by a bunch of pieces. I will admit I need to do better with picking up stitches, and I got a little confused with the collar. Despite those points, I did it!
I initially thought it wouldn’t fit because it says one size. As you can see that was all in my head. I knit as designed and did not modify.
My review: the yarn
The yarn I used is from Lang and it’s called Virginia. It’s 100% superwash Wool and comes in 55 yard skeins. I used a little over 7 skeins. The yarn is a bit fuzzy for my liking, but I love my sweater.
The yarn I used for the heart is Mrs Moon Plump. This was a gift from Bonnye Jean while she was in Amsterdam. This yarn is a 80/20 Merino/Alpaca blend and is new to me as well. I would definitely purchase again. Especially this color 🧡
I loved this yarn so much that I added the accent for the sleeves. That was my only modification was changing the color of the ribbing
The finished object
So do you have rain boots because here comes the flood of pictures
