I have been knitting since 2009. 8 years ago today, I taught myself to knit. I love Facebook memories, because I found a status that confirmed I have been knitting for 8 years. Well I learned to knit on this day in 2009.
THe beginning
There is no way, at that point, that I knew knitting would save my life. I am so very happy that on that day, one of my agents found that prize. You see I ran a sales call center for Verizon at the time and we were cleaning out the prize closet. One of my agents found a cup that had a skein of yarn, a set of needles and a pattern. It was only one and she asked what she should do with it and I took it home. Yup, I went home, went on YouTube and made what I now know as a mess! Hahahahahahahahaha but dang I was knitting and proud. Here is my first project that I was willing to show folks? Hahahahahahahaa
I can’t tell you how proud I was and then I was over it! Lol it wasn’t until Jasmine, was making the Autumn hat. I begged her to make me one, but she taught me to knit in the round, 2×2 ribbing and seed stitch. Man listen I was on a mission and I haven’t looked back. That hat is actually the first project I posted on Ravelry! I now have over 350 projects listed.
I put together a little video of some of my proudest knits, click play..you can find the details of the patterns, most of them anyway, on Ravelry.
Do you remember when you first started knitting?
Knit on my fiber friends….knit on

Happy 8th knitversary!!!! Love the video!
Started in 2011 myself: a friend taught me and although I kept dropping the needles (literally.! Erin said she, always knew when I dropped them because I’d start laughing and say oh sh**!), Erin stuck with me, and now I have a massive stash, most sizes of needles (takumi bamboo works for me) and am also yarn-obssessed! It’s a THING, people! Lol!
Thank you, GG, you always inspire me and make me smile!
LOL it is indeed a THING!
Happy KNITTAversary! I’ve been trying for 6 years, but FINALLY made progress at the end of 2016. Happy I stumbled upon your blog last year.
