What's in a name?

I opened up my ETSY shop again. So me, Β some super bulky hand painted yarn, US50 needles AND a couple of hours = instant gratification. I am the CEO of #teamlazyashell so I love bulky, chunky yarn and some big needles. Yes I do indeed.

So here is the deal, Β I need you guys help. I need to name my two latest cowls/thingy as I will be updating the shop. This is where I always struggle, with the description and the name. So help please…here is what I made over the last 2 days. The first one is actually lavender and it’s a big lofty cowl or could be a caplet because it will definitely go down over your shoulders.

The second one is big infinity scarf because it will allow you to double it up. I want catchy cute names for them..what do you guys think?

Thank you all in advance, for your suggestions. Love you mean it!

  1. I struggle with descriptions all the time on my shop. Ugh. How about Brooklyn? I’ve used some of the streets I’ve lived on or places I’ve visited like my Aspen Wrap, for example. The names mean something to me which adds to the handmade theme of Etsy.

  2. Etsy changed their search algorithm a while back, so the Best names are those ugly eBay style descriptions. Name them what your customers are searching for… hand knit cowl capelet in lavender thick and warm. Hand knit infinity scarf in red thick and warm… As for the descriptions… Tell your story and let your awesome personality shine through.

  3. I think they are both extremely beautiful. Oddly enough, I would have to agree with both Cozy & Lindsey. Naming them something cool like Brooklyn creates a classiness. It also separates your items from the ones that are just descriptive. But in the description title it should also be geared towards what people search for. ie Brooklyn: Chunky Warm Infinity Cowl. People searching for a warm cowl will find your scarf. With an artist driven name like Brooklyn, people searching for paintings or photos of Brooklyn will get a surprise when they find your Cowl. Having a non-descriptive name will give you a Branding edge, plus possibly add a few random customers. 😊 Good luck with your store Super Star 🌟

  4. Excellent looking knits GG!!!! What’s your etsy shop name? I’m PattyMac Knits. This is my first season and I’m learning the ropes. I don’t spend nearly enough time on it….oh well. Slow and steady.
