When you wake up sad, find some yarn you forgot you had. When you wake up feeling blue, for me knitting is the only thing to do.
This Saturday’s questions centered around crafting as a source of therapy. If you missed it go check it out. I promise the best way to get me out of a funk is knitting. I shopped my stash to see what I could use to make myself another Caponcho.
If you follow me on Facebook, you may have heard this story already. A good friend sent me this picture to help her find the pattern. Yes I am the pattern pusher, Lol! I recognized the pattern but it took me a minute to realize the picture was of MY Caponcho! Hahahhahahaaa I was all in my head like “wow someone did the same exact color as I did” I need help. Anyway, seeing this made me want another one.
I started digging through my stash and found the perfect shade of orange. I know shocking 😱
The pattern is Caponcho by Emma Fassio and I love this thing so hard. Here is the latest version
My latest Caponcho
I modified it slightly. I started with 80 stitches and added a little open stitches on the bottom. The fact that you have a cape and a poncho at the same damn time is truly a bonus. Did I say it was a free pattern? You wanna see the new one?
The Details
The yarn is a discontinued it is from Cascade Yarns called Sitka. It is a 80/20 blend of Merino and Mohair. This yarn was a gift and I can’t thank Laura from Four Purls enough for her kindness.
I used 3 skeins or 393 yards of yarn. This yarn is Aran weight and the pattern calls for Bulky, so in order to make it work, I had to use larger needles. I started with US15 around the neck area and then switched to US17.
I am super pleased with the outcome. Have you ever had to modify a pattern?

Wow! That is absolutely beautiful!
And I’m with you, when I’m feeling blue Crocheting is what I do. 😊
There’s only one thing, like Dr. Martin Luther King, I have a dream that one day I will be able to experience the beautiful of real yarn.
I’ve only used acrylics because it’s what I can afford at this time. I hope to treat myself for my birthday in December. 😊
By the way Orange is my very favorite color since I was in elementary school, 🏫
I am soon to be 57 🙃
Miss you on YouTube.
Have a blessed day.
