2018|The year of facing my fears

Fears have always driven my life. I have always avoided anything that generated doubt. In knitting that thing, for me, was making sweaters. I know you are saying “but GG you made that Wool in the Gang Sweater in the Philippines”. Yup I sure did.

Can we talk about comparison and how it kills confidence? Well, in my mind because I had only made bulky sweaters, versus all the fingering weight sweaters on Instagram, I was a fraud.

If you let me tell it I wasn’t a real knitter, and I definitely wasn’t a sweater knitter.

In 2018 I said damn this, I can at least try. I cast on with fear staring me in the eye. My confidence improved with each stitch and the sweaters unfolded right before my unsure eyes.

Before I could even protest, I was making swatches and checking gauge. What!? Who are you and where was GG? Then I did what I thought only real knitters did…make a sweater with fingering weight yarn 😱

Man talk about proud! I made 9 sweaters this year!! Yea I did!! Believe me when I say, self talk is key. If you say you can’t, trust me you won’t! We can do anything, period, point and the blank. Check out my year of fearlessness below. Click the picture for the details.Β

The Pins

2018 also was the year I offered enamel pins. My eyes are wet as I type this, because I was damn sure no one would want a pin from me. Who do I think I am? The popular folks with all the followers do those things right? Ha!! I could hardly keep them in stock!

The latest pin I call The Shopper. Holiday shopping may be over but yarn shopping never ends. Note: this pin sold out too πŸ€—

Just remember in order to be triumphant you must first try. Happy New Year
