I’m knitting my way through Covid-19

Covid-19 vs. Knitting and I say Knitting for the win! It has been a crazy, unsettling time. A downright scary time. I am not normally an anxious person but all the panicking is getting to me. If I am not working, I am knitting and if I am not knitting I am sleeping. My allergies and hormones have me wondering/stressing on a daily basis.

The Orange Love KAL is keeping me busy. I am so very proud of all the projects that are coming from the group. Every day someone thanks me for giving them something to do during Covid-19. I in turn, thank them for keeping me company.

If you are not accustomed to staying put, this social distancing is a challenge. It is a challenge that is worth everything you feel you are missing by staying home.

Surviving Covid-19

I am a firm believer that we will get through this if we do our part. I know all regions are different but please do what you have to do to stay safe. Staying away from one another will help everyone.

Knitting to the rescue again for me. When the news gets to be too much I grab my project. I stitch until my breathing slows down and my heartbeat returns to normal. When I lost my parents and my job, knitting saved me. I knit my way through that difficult time and I am prepared to do it again. Who is with me?

I control what I can, and knit my way through the rest.

Covid-19 is keeping us physically apart, but the knitting community has never been more connected. I have seen so many Virtual knit nights on ZOOM and oh my goodness I can’t keep up with all the lives on instagram.

So many companies are offering free products. Like Knit Stars for instance, they are offering “Free Stars” once a week. Check out this week’s star here

I love how we are rallying around each other to make our new normal as regular as we can. I love seeing all the virtual trunk shows to help the vendors from all of the cancelled events. It has just been a beautiful site to see.

Hang in there you guys. We will get through this.

  1. Knitting over here in SoCal too! Keeping me calm, and making lots of progress on a wrap for a family member for Christmas (a project I originally gave myself 11 months to complete).
Just knowing others like you are doing the same brings great comfort to me, and I am so blessed to feel that.
Thank you, my knitting community, and you especially, GG. Your thoughts often mirror mine, and more than often make me think outside myself–a very good thing.
Stay safe and healthy and we’ll see you on the other side of the curve! 💕

  2. Much love always Ms G, I’m knitting more and got to the point of limiting the news as it was all getting too stressful which will do my heart no good. The lives from the crafters have been so great, but with time difference I keep falling asleep! I’m loving the virtual chats from outside knitting/crocheting too, from Idris, Loni Love, John Legend doing a concert, it’s been a welcome distraction!
Keep shining and stay well and safe xx🧡

  3. Hooray – and love the new blog look. I’m making and blogging my way through (add you to my list of inspiring blogs!). Sending so much love your way, GG! xo

  4. Bless you and your family GG…we will get through this…I am alone, my Husband died 2 yrs ago and my mother last October from Demenia…90 years old..although I missed them both,Iam also thankful that my mother do not have to go through this…be prayerful dear lady….

  5. Stay safe. Yes I’m knitting, a 10 stitch afghan which takes all my concentration and is using up yarn ‘scraps’ from other projects. I can also set it down pretty quickly (rows are short). Love you, take care.

  6. Knitting and trying to do cleaning and decluttering in WA. Only give myself so much time to do “Adulting things and then I knit, read and binge watch something. I will be off for the next three weeks, so I can space it out. I do need to get more knitting time on the poncho. I love it and can’t wait to wear it.

I’m doing the same thing GG. I follow you and I think you are an awesome woman. I’ve gone with you on your trips and adventures, virtually of course. I just celebrated my 80th birthday, and I’m still trying to catch up. I would love to go to some of these yarn trip experiences. I didn’t know it was a “thing ” until I started following what I am calling “My knitting friends”. Right now, I am knitting and crocheting like My life is on fire. I didn’t have time in the past to devote to this hobby. Now with COVID-19, knitting is keeping me sane. I cry when I see the loss. Your warmth is very endearing, so here I am, sending you a hug. I presently have 5 Who’s. I switch back and forth at will. Hope I get to meet you one day.

  8. Hi, Gaye. I have to admit that there for a few days after coming back from Hawai’i – no, it was bad there also! – having to deal with snowmageddon and no power for three days and nothing on the shelves at the store totally freaked me. Strangely enough, it was my temperature blanket that I’m crocheting, that brought me back around the bend.
I’m also experiencing some non-covid-19 health issues, and sometimes, it’s all I can do just to crochet one day’s worth.
Thank you for being there, Gaye!
