FRIDAY and I am finished!! Woot Woot! A few weeks ago while in Rochester I had the pleasure of getting my hands on some Tundra from  The Fibre Company and I mean literally. I was in Yarn Culture (please make a point of visiting if you find yourself in the area) and this cowl, Arctic Circle, was a sample and not just any ole sample. This sample I walked by looked, touched and walked away. I found myself in that area again and this time I really looked at the texture that was created with the stitch. You guys know I love texture, but what got me was the squish factor of this yarn. Listen here when I tell you this yarn is yummy…I mean this yarn is Y U M M Y. What is the yarn you speak of GG? Is that what you are saying as you read this post? Well this Friday I am happy to tell you all about Tundra from The Fibre Company. This beauty is made up of 60% baby alpaca, 30% merino wool and 10% silk, say it with me..OMGAWD!  It’s a bulky weight of course and each skein is 120 yards of yes, I’ll take it please. One would think there wasn’t a yarn I hadn’t met…but then there is Tundra. This is why I love going to yarn stores wherever I land, because each store holds the possibility of a yarn I must touch, an rub and squeeze! LOL! Yes I do all of that in a yarn store, I won’t be shocked if I get stopped for molesting the yarn. hahahahahahahahahahaa
Needless to say, the yarn and the pattern made it home with me. In the exact color on the pattern which is Tamarack. Â The yarn was new to me as was the stitch in the pattern. Antonia Shankland cleverly inserted the Tent stitch into a lovely, easy to knit cowl! Once I tried it on in the store I was sold. I casted on a few days later and before I knew I caught the rhythm. I read the pattern, but I am a visual learner, so I hit YouTube and found this video. I then went to my FB page to see if anyone else had done this stitch, because who knew. I mean I have a book of stitches but I don’t think I saw this one in there. It’s a four row repeat that is easy to remember, so no need to carry the pattern around. The only sad part is this cowl is not for GG. Yea my girlfriend who was with me when I went to the yarn store, said she wanted it, so she paid for everything. Guys it is gong to be so hard to let this one go…I mean it’s so soft and it looks damn good on me! hahahahahahahahahaa.
Honestly, this is simple pattern, that produces and lovely cowl! I would definitely do this again.
Do you have a FO? A finished object this Friday? Tell me what is it in the comments

Welcome and thanks for reading!
That yarn is DELISH!!!! And the cowl is gorgeous! I live in southern CA but I can think of several friends in colder climates to make this for!
That is the word I needed DELISH!
I love your blog and your work. Your blog motivated me to take my crochet game to the next level with by using YouTube tutorials. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the kind words and for reading 😘
I finished the Rushmore cowl in Zara Plus (light blue and grey).
I like the color combination, I’m sure it’s lovely!
It is a very calm color combo. Blue is a calming color.
Forgot to say that I bought the book Weekend knits (sorry my brain can’t remember the title). Patterns are great.
They are! I love that book!
Beautiful cowl, Gaye! Your work is always lovely!
Why thank you Dawn!
