Saturday morning with GG

Saturday morning and the house is quiet. Shelbey is still asleep and Gunner (my grandpuppy) has been taken out and fed so he is happy. I have only been home a little over a week and it’s time to go again, which means my mind is racing. I have to pack, I need a new pair of comfortable flats, I need a manicure/pedicure, I need to get my taxes done, I need to do laundry, I have to unpack and repack, ugh I was stressed before my Saturday even started.

Insert yarn, yes I said yarn. I decided to wind the yarn I plan on taking with me to Tampa and the sound of the winding process calmed me right down. There is something soothing about the soft swooshing sound the swift made as I carefully created cakes of yarn to keep me company on this next assignment.

I wound the Voolenvine I grabbed at Do Ewe Knit? last weekend. The color is called Octopus Garden and I think it will be a shawl when it grows up. Isn’t it gorge!!!? It’s a 80/20 blend of wool and nylon. Another new yarn, don’t tell anyone I had never heard of it, but the way them folks were snatching it up I had to get me some, so I did.

I also prepared my Kismet gradient kit to take with me as I will be there a month and I plan to knit by the pool as much as I can 😋 This bundle of orange yummy is a 75/25 blend of merino and nylon. I have heard so many good things about this yarn too, so I am looking forward to using them both.

No your eyes are not deceiving you, they are both fingering weight! Lol close your mouth, I will use smaller weight for my own items because there is no deadline. When folks ask me to make them something that calls for smaller gauges something in me snaps. I just can’t do it, I feel like I would never finish, but if it’s for me I can take all the time I like.  LOL so yea it’s fingering!

So I am on the hunt for a nice pattern to do these beauties justice. I have my eye on the Freesia by Jumpercables for the Voolenvine. Do you all have any suggestions?  I have 800 yards with the Voolenvine and 1100 yards of the Kismet. Drop your suggestions in the comments please.

How was your Saturday morning?

Knit on my fiber friends…knit on

  1. Your nails match your yarn! I just bought a gradient kit by Julie Asselin (in a shop in Montreal). They had “Bosc Pear” made in this yarn but I think I’ll make ” Spearmint Tea” as I like symmetrical designs. I believe both are free patterns on Ravelry. I want to buy a “Party of Five” by Sweet Georgia this week.

  2. Ouu, nice colors and blends. The list is endlist from scarf to shrug or even a coverup being that you’re going to be by the pool. You could wip that up in no time. Enjoy!
