The Encouraging Thunder Award

About last night, when I was working diligently to make my t-shirt sales, and I get a notification that I had been nominated for the Encouraging Thunder Award. Wait What?? Really? Lil ole me? I was completely honored. I can’t thank Marilyn from Yarn, Books and Roses for nominating me.

What is the award for?

This award is designed to recognize blogs that are inspiring and encouraging to their readers. Aww shucks now, I guess I am doing something right. I found Marilyn because she too started knitting during a troubling time in her life and we clicked over the yarn; the string the binds. I have met some wonderful folks during this fiber journey and I am happy she is one of them. She confirms my belief that I could knit my way through it all, no matter what “it” is and for that I am grateful. I am a firm believer of sharing your feelings, because it feels damn good to know you are NOT alone. Thank you for doing that for me, I really appreciate you. It is my honor to pass the award along.

How does the award work?

How does this award work GG? Is that what you asked? Well I have to discuss the why behind “Confessions of a YarnHo”. What is the purpose behind my blog?  If you read Marilyn’s post Bolt From The Blue: The Encouraging Thunder Award you will learn that she felt alone; insert Yarn and all was right with the world.

As for me, you all know my story in reference to knitting, but not sure if you all know why I blog. Well I definitely didn’t do it to win an award, but it sure is a nice perk ;P.  No, seriously, in my introduction I believe I refer to Confessions as my fiber diary, because basically I am talking to myself with an audience. The blog is a space that I can document my knitting progress as I learn new techniques. I am still genuinely shocked that anyone wants to read anything I have to say. This blog has allowed me to flex my confidence muscle in reference to my knitting, so I guess the base answer is therapy. I am of the mindset if you write it down it’s real. So I am a real knitter because I wrote it and you read it! hahahahahahahahahaaa!

Who inspires me?

Now it’s time to pay it forward by listing some of the blogs that inspire me on a daily basis. Please know this list is not all inclusive, because I would have to write a novel and you all don’t want to read all of that, right? So here we go….

  1. Fringe Association – because they inspire me to try new things, push me past my self imposed knitting boundaries,
  2. Knitting Ninja – because she gives me all I need, food, photography and crafting. She also get me together when I stray to the left.
  3. Espace Tricot Blog – hate that I love this blog, every time I visit I am inspired to try a new pattern.
  4. Knitting Sarah – her blog is what I envision for Confessions, when I grow up, Her photography, her writing style just all of it. I don’t even know that she knows I exist. but I dig her work, big time!

If I nominated you and you choose to accept the award because all of you are super busy being fabulous, here are the rules:

When you get this award, you can:

  • Post it and the logo on your blog
  • Pay it forward by nominating others

You cannot:

  • Abuse or misuse the logo
  • Claim the logo is your own

If you receive the award you should:

  • Give thanks via comments and likes in the blog of the person nominating you
  • Mention the person who nominated you in your award blog
  • Discuss your purpose in blogging in your award blog

I can’t close this out without thank you guys, all of you: the readers, the bloggers all of you make me who I am. Thank you or reading, or for providing the example to follow. You are appreciated.

Knit on my fiber friends…Knit on

~GG

  1. In the words of the inimitable comedy troupe, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, “And now for something completely different” – I was NOT expecting anything like that!? Thank, Miss Gaye.
