4 Reasons Why I Love Four Purls Yarn Store

Four reasons seem small, but you will see why I love this place.  As I stated last time I posted it was time to go back to a yarn store and I decided to go back to Four Purls in Winter Haven, Florida.

This is the place I stopped in before the dreaded “other shop” and what is it they say about hindsight being 20/20? Well you see the glasses right? Hahahaaaaa #whenyouknowbetterdobetter

I first shared the Four Purls when I had the pleasure of experiencing their yarn truck #followthefiber. Well I have been to the shop twice and I will absolutely go back again. I have decided this is my #homeawayfromhome

What’s so special about this store GG? Is that your question? Are you thinking a yarn store is just that, a yarn store and they are all the same? #nope Let me tell you 4 (pun intended) reasons I love Four Purls

  1. Yarn selection: I can honestly say I didn’t expect the shop to be so thoroughly stocked, I mean it’s Florida why would you have anything heavier than fingering weight? Because Laura owns the bomb shop, she has Rasta AND big bumps, yea she does. So who bought Rasta the first time she visited? *slowly raises hand* that would be me  IMG_4794
  2. Store samples: so listen all stores have samples, if they are about their business. What separates FP from all the rest is the amount of unique samples they have. Patterns that were made for the store (read to the end I have a present 4 u 😋) You know I love to share patterns with you guys, so when I see something the first thing I do is ask what the name is on Ravelry, when Laura said “I made that, I can give it to you” I’m like “no I’ll buy it from Ravelry” and she says “uh it’s not on Ravelry” here go me 🙀 They also have samples of patterns that I was oh so happy to see live in living color, Like the Solar by Stephen West IMG_1546Screen Shot 2016-05-23 at 7.22.06 AMIMG_0079
  3. Atmosphere: I have already told you about what I don’t like, so let’s talk about  what I love. I love a friendly, knowledgeable staff. A yarn store in my opinion should be a safe haven for crafters at any level. Click To TweetYou should be welcomed and feel comfortable requesting assistance. Four Purls is all of that and more. The first time I walked in, I was greeted instantly with a smile and an offer of assistance. When I declined and said I was looking for the owner, I was given what I requested. What I didn’t know at that moment was this…I was talking to the owner’s daughter. I am a huge believer that home training is key and it was apparent this beauty was taught well.  Now let’s talk about the “regulars” and how they were just as friendly! I had no issues sitting and knitting with them like we were old fiber friends. The other thing I believe is yarn is the string that binds. The second time I went, I damn near STAYED! LOL! I was there ALL day and not once did I feel like I should leave. Love this place and all the folks associated with it! IMG_9954 IMG_2726
  4. Yarn colors: my goodness the color options were almost overwhelming. Every color you think you need, Four purls has it ready to wind AND they will help you select the colors. When I say they I mean everyone! I swear I love this place. The bonus was all the shades of orange my heart desired 😍IMG_8671 IMG_8056 IMG_2368

So if you find yourself in Tampa or Orlando you MUST go visit Four Purls. If you never find yourself in Florida, they sell online too. I told you, this store ROCKS! Yes that was my welcome sign when I went back the second time. I didn’t cry though, nope I fought back the happy tears. My eyes were sweating a little bit! LOL!

Now as promised, I have a gift for you. One of the samples I fell in love with is now available for sale. BUT because you all are Awesome! I have a coupon code 😋 use GGMADEIT and Thistle Dew is free. Woot Woot! IMG_3393

You know you have that 1 skein of fingering yarn in your stash and if you don’t, go to Four Purls or order online. I will be casting on Thistle Dew with Zen Gardens yarn in a custom FP color way (it has orange in it *giggles*)

Knit on my fiber friends….knit on

  1. What a great time you had! I *love* the special GG Table of Orange too, wasn’t that sweet? I’m going to check out their web site. Thanks for taking us on this rewarding escapade. Knit on!

  2. Love the gg made it sign. Glad you found a great store. Looks like a lot of yummy yarn and happy faces. Thanks for the pattern. I have a 1 skein zen garden I got from vogue knitting. It was a must have appletini glitter sock. Gorgeous.

  3. Thank you so much for the fun read..it was fun going on the trip with you…and THANKS so much for the pattern for” Thistle Dew”…I cant wait to create that lovely shawl.

  4. I am a knitter from Michigan who was in the Winter Haven area this spring with my grandson’s college baseball team at spring training. I felt exactly the same way when I walked in to Four Purls! What a store! I felt welcomed and comfortable. Laura, her darling, dancing daughter, her husband, and Lisa made me feel like family! The ‘social’ knitting girls were kind and wonderful to chat with. I think this should be the model for all retail shops! I even received an email from Lisa a couple of months after being in FP saying that she saw a pattern that made her think of me. Wow! So glad that they are getting some well deserved kudos. Because of them I found ggmadeit! Great all around!

  5. Thank you so much for the free pattern! I felt the exact same way about Four Purls when I walked in. I live right smack in the middle of Stash and Four Purls and always have a tough time deciding which way to go….

  6. Thanks GG and 4Purls for the pattern hook-up. Not experienced enough to make it yet, but I “bought” it for the future
