I finished it my way |The Sabrina Sweater

I finished another Sweater you guys and I am super proud. When are you not proud when you finish a project GG? Is that your question?? Hahahahahaaa well in this case it’s because I modified a bit, let’s talk.

A month or so ago, I received an email from We Are Knitters asking would I like to try one of their kits. What did I say? LOL YUP, I said I would love to try one of your kits. They advised me to go to the site and let them know what I wanted. I selected the Sabrina Sweater.

Initially I thought it was a cardigan, but quickly realized it was in fact a pullover, no biggie let’s get going. This sweater is knit in pieces, something I normally avoid, but I pressed forward. I knew that I would knit the panels two at a time, or this sweater would never get finished.

Cotton is not something I use often, but that can change, because this cotton that came in the kit is lovely. The drape on my sweater is perfect!! I cast on May 26th and finished last night.

As you all know I love a bobble. I love them so much that I had my nail tech but them on my nail to match my sweater. LOL yes I sure did.

Finished My Way

Ok let’s talk about my thoughts on this pattern. They list the skill as intermediate and that is due to the bobbles, I guess. I would say it was pretty easy to do, but I love making bobbles, so my opinion is a bit biased.

As I mentioned earlier the sweater is knit in pieces and I prefer to knit in the round. I guess I should read before I grab a pattern. Thank God I decided to knit the panels at the same time, because I have second EVERYTHING syndrome. LOL I would have put it down and never re-visited. So if I had a complaint it would be that, other wise I love it!!

I carried it everywhere I went. If I was sitting I was knitting. As I was getting closer to the end of the first two panels, I kept thinking I didn’t want to do the sleeves. That was the first modification, I didn’t knit the sleeves. I love it as a short sleeved top. The second modification was I added side panels to make more room for the twins. LOL

I was knitting the XL but I felt like it would have been snug and I wanted the drape. So I picked a few stitches, knit a few rows and POW problem solved.

As I stated in the very beginning I am pleased and I recommend this kit. I recommend any of them, because honestly the patterns are well written and they have video support on the stitches. A win win if you ask me.

What have you finished lately? Let’s talk in the comments

Their cotton yarn is a lot like WATG’S SHINY HAPPY COTTON. Great to work with, beautiful drape. Only cotton I’m usi g these days, and I’m in South Florida. It’s gorgeous.

I just finished the Turtle Dove Sweater. I had worsted weight yarn, not bulky. When I figured out the 109yards/50grams it came to 2.18yards/gram. This was more than my worsted, so I figured it was thinner. Probably wrong. I used the US 10.75 & US 10 needles. I remembered your advise about really checking the size, because of the 14-18” ease. Instead of my normal 42” finished size, I decided to do size M. I figured, if anything, it will probably be slightly snug, wrong.

The armholes are at my hips. It is 60” wide. It’s top down, why didn’t I try it on, as I went. It’s a cute light peach Swancho?? Poncheater??? I will try to send you 2 photos. Please excuse my limp, thin, flat hair. 😂

I love you and Shelby. I told her, my husband watches All the “Housewives Of….,” shows on BRAVO. I watch all things GG, Shelby, That Dam Della, and all my other Instagram Fiber friends.

  3. I LOVE your top,GG..you did A FANTASTIC JOB ! I did go over to the site , BUT was disappointed that the sweater would not fit my 2xl body and requested that they would include larger kits in the future. You did a great job modifying it.Not only are you a wonderful knitter, but now you are getting into the world of modifying sweaters. You are an inspiration.

    1. Hi GG, just saw your YouTube vlog. I want to express my deepest condolences on your loss. It’s very hard to lose someone you love, even worse when it was under the conditions that caused it. I truly feel so much for you, and I hear it in your voice.
I feel like I know you personally. I wish I could physically go on the journeys with you. I just turned 80 in February, but I still love doing all things knitting. I am just now at the time when I can indulge my love of this craft. You have such compassion in your affect, and it’s very catching. I too am a self taught knitter, so in spite of my age, I am still learning new things about it. I love your orange passion. I talk about you to my daughter all the time. I’ve told her you are my knitting buddy. Your thoughts are my thoughts to a “T”.
I hope in some small way, I can send a hug to you and hope that you will feel better with time. You take care of yourself also. I personally am not being allowed outside except for a little fresh air and warm sunshine. I think my family would wrap me in bubble wrap if they could. Take care, God Bless you and your family.

I am so glad to see that you have knit this sweater. I bought the kit a while ago and have been concerned about the neck. I don’t want it to be too open and show my bra straps. I was reading that some said that you have to be careful when sewing the pieces together (since the cotton doesn’t stretch so much) not to make the neck opening too small or your head won’t go through. Your top underneath solves this problem and looks so cute! I love the pattern and I too LOVE bobbles and do not mind to knit them. You are always an inspiration to me. I love your boldness (wearing orange, it’s beautiful on you!) and all of the beautiful things that you knit. Keep on inspiring us!
