I grabbed my Cocoknits Sweater Workshop book again….

I am here to tell you the Sweater Workshop book is magical. Am I being dramatic right now? Yes, but I promise I mean every word. I say again because this project will be my third from this fabulous book.

The first two project from The Sweater Workshop are pictured below. The first is the Lizzy and the later is the Tallulah. With each project I obtained a new skillset.

Franca using the Sweater workshop

In one of my previous post linked above, I mentioned that I wanted to knit the Franca. As I have mentioned a few times, the book has a few patterns included and additional patterns too. This pattern is one of those, it’s not included in the book, but YOU NEED THE BOOK to complete this pattern.

The Franca is a classic cardigan with pockets. OMGAWD I have never done pockets and I will admit to being hesitant. Well you guys know That Damn Della right? The owner of LolaBean Yarnco? She had an exclusive color way called Georgia Peach that I had to have.

I attempted to get others to purchase it for me at Stitches United, but she wouldn’t have any of that business. She is too much, she wouldn’t allow me to purchase the yarn because she intended to give it to me. *insert crying emoji*

I call her that Damn Della for a reason. She is a beast with that dye stuff. She is also one of the kindest folks alive. After I posted a video, everyone wanted some Georgia Peach and who put up a pre-sale listing? That Damn Della!

I cast on this sweater 16 days ago and at this point I am beyond the shoulder action and baby I have pockets!! YES!! I, me, GG knit her first pockets!!! I am blown away with pride.

Am I the only one that avoids the unknown? I promise I held off on starting this because of pockets. Can I tell you how much joy has come from completing said pockets. You guys know I barrel through my projects when I am excited right? Well this time was no different..I couldn’t wait to get to the pockets. LOL!

Again I say, wholeheartedly, this book is worth the investment. I have learned new techniques AND have beautiful finished objects (well almost) to show for me efforts. I approve this book hahahahahahahaha

  1. Your post inspired me to look at knitting books so I decided to visit my local library. I found “The Sweater Workshop.”

    It’s all orange.

    Thanks for the sign!

  2. OK, you’ve convinced me. I’m going to order the book. I checked my local libraries and none of them had it. From what you say, it’s better to own it anyway.
BTW, I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Adella in person yet, but I totally agree with your comments about here. I haven’t been to Rhinebeck in a few years, but knowing she’ll be there I’ve already told my husband we need to go. Maybe I’ll even be lucky enough to meet you!

  3. Hi GG,
You’re video relaxed my soul after a busy day teaching Summer School. I love your positive attitude about life and especially knitting as well. You’re a dear friend to many🥰. Your sweater pockets are fabulous. Thanks for the encouraging information. 🌹

  4. Beautiful!! I am loving that color, and can’t wait to see photos of you wearing your finished sweater (with pockets!!). I remember well the first time I knitted pockets – I was so worried about it, and it turned out to be really not a problem, except! They fell right on my hips and added about four inches where I didn’t need them, so I ended up taking them right back out (imagine laughing emoji here) 🙂

  5. Your enthusiasm and positive energy are infectious! Thank you for what you are doing!
I am a Cocoknits newbie, just finishing my first, an Emma B. Please please help me to understand how you knit two sleeves at a time. If I understood, you used a long needle (40”, 60” ?) so are you using magic loop and knitting in the round? Maybe there’s a You Tube tutorial but I can’t figure out how to transfer the sleeve stitches for both sleeves onto one needle, or maybe two circulars?
I ended up knitting one sleeve at a time, with two circulars. Much easier than magic loop, but still the sleeves aren’t the same length. Thank you for any suggestions.

  6. Hi GG, Friend I admire you attitude and personality of confidence. Your sweaters are Orange gorgeous! I’m searching for a CocoKnit Sweater Workshop Book. You explain and describe your knitting strategies with a REAL HEART. I just love visiting your podcast , they are the BEST! I apologize for not being current, I’m a busy mother, grandmother, wife, Sunday school teacher, and a full time educator. So I’m mostly on line during late hours. I love ALL OF YOUR Discussions. 🌹
