NJWW | NJ WoolWalk Day 1

Wool and the Gang

The New Jersey WoolWalk started yesterday and I was out in those streets. Wednesday I went to Do Ewe Knit to grab my passport and bag. I was happy to read that $1 from the WoolWalk passport purchase was being donated to Autism Speaks. How cool is that!

I met the designer of the WoolWalk bag, here name is Rhonda and she owns The YarnAttic. Yes, she is responsible for the cute pink sneakers, lol! As I stated in a previous post, you purchase the bag and the passport in order to get the discounts as well as a chance to win  I love this annual event for so many reasons so let’s discuss four of those reasons now.

Do Ewe Knit?

  •  I have talked/blogged about this shop a million times before. You guys already know how I feel about the owner Karen, the yarn selection and the shop itself. Well yesterday was especially  special because Karen introduced the world to Yarnpimp, her exclusive hand dyed yarn! Woot Woot! The merino/nylon blend comes in a burst of bright colors and there is a color named for the shop.

Do I have money? No. Should I be shopping? No. Did I grab a skein of this yarn? YUP! I had to because not only is it special because it’s Karen, but did I tell you the yarn was dyed by Kelly Friel? Yes indeed! Who is Kelly GG? Kelly and I met at Karen’s shop some years ago, but I believe we were already connected on Instagram at that time. I am over the moon with pride for both of them. Sooo if you are in NJ and are walking go check them out and tell em GG sent you!

The YARN ATTIC

  •  this shop was new for me and I will admit I was a bit gun shy. I still have wounds from that shop that will remain nameless; however, this place is AWESOME! I walked in to a warm cozy and welcoming shop. The first store sample that caught my eye had a pop of bright orange, so yea, I was impressed. As I walked further into the shop I was approached by the friendliest woman ever, Rhonda. I am sure the Made to Measure Shrug  by Lisa Jensen, I was wearing caught her eye, but her heart captured mine. After talking for a few minutes I learned the Rockstar of a woman was the owner of the shop. We connected on Ravelry and became fast fiber friends, all in less than an hour.

The YarnAttic

This shop was well worth the ride and I will definitely go back. They had a wonderful yarn selection, even had yarns I had never seen before. I must admit discovering new yarns is a big draw for me and this walk never disappoints. I just wish I had more money to spend.

Wool & grace

  • I haven’t been here since my very first experience, it was called the yarn crawl then…my goodness that was like 3 or 4 years ago. This place is still as fabulous as it was when I first visited. They win the prize for the great kits they had set up AND I fell in love with this sample. You know I am a sucker for a good sample. In better financial times, I would have said I want everything I need to make THAT! LOL! You guys know I love anything that is poncho like and this sample fits the bill. What you also know is I love a little texture and, yup this large ribbing does it for me. The pattern in question is called the Sasha Wrap, imagine if you will this wrap in say, uh ORANGE! hahahahahahaha

    Sasha Wrapthe blue purl

  • last shop of the day, but certainly not least. Much like the previous shop, I hadn’t been back to this shop since the yarn crawl a few years ago. As soon as I walked in I remembered why I liked this shop the first time; they have a nice open layout. The shop is set up in a way that makes it easy for you to see all the goodness AND they always have great samples. They also have a nice giveaway with purchase. Heck I still have the giveaway from the last time..HEY!! No judging. All yarn will be used when it’s time. hahahahahahahahahahaaa

Whew this is a long post..I could go on but I won’t. Day 2 is a gloomy rainy day, so I am not sure if I will be out there or not.

Knit on my fiber friends….knit on
