Tampa,  what  fiber treasures do you have in store for me? Huh? Must I go outside of Tampa to find a yarn store? The answer is NOPE!! Today, right down the street from the hotel, I found the ONLY yarn store in Tampa. Yes I did and this little treasure is called Roxy’s Yarns come on in with me and check it out.
Roxy’s is nestled quite nicely and a visually pleasing street. I thoroughly enjoyed my drive down Westshore Blvd, where the speed limit was low so you were forced to enjoy the scenery on this beautiful Spring day. Today the temperatures reached a lovely 77 degrees with a nice breeze; a perfect day to hunt for yarn if you ask me 🙂
So you all know I have some requirements when it comes to yarn stores, one of which is a friendly/knowledgeable staff, check. I like a decent yarn selection, with varying weights and colors choices..check…check. I also like an open airy store, not a dark, cramped to the rafters with yarn. Yarn needs to be free, to breathe and this place nails it!
Roxy’s is a baby yarn store as it was just born last month. As you can see in the picture above you have room in the back for classes or for sitting and knitting, which they do on Wednesday nights. I was very happy when I was greeted with a warm welcome by Barbara. She gladly showed me around, let me know which yarn was where and even took the time to point out yarn that was dyed locally; #winning Everyone there was really nice and did an awesome job at making me feel welcome. I mean I even spent a few minutes helping Joe set up the Instagram account.
Roxy’s proudly carries yarn from 2 locally dyers and Sockbunny is exclusive, you can only get it here. Well duh, that is what exclusive means, but saying you can only get it…lol you know what I mean! HAHAHAHAHAHA! So if you are in Tampa, go check it out!! They also carry yarn by another local dyer, who practically lives in their backyard and that yarn is called The Fiber Seed both of these local treasures produce such vibrant colors. Colors that made this yarnho smile wide!!!
You know I also like decent samples to inspire me, show me the possibilities with this fabulous yarn…and they did just that!
They even satisfied my craving for all things Orange! hahahahahahahaaa. Overall it was a great visit and I plan to go back. GG definitely approves this yarn store. So please tell a Tampa friend.
I did grab a skein of this yarn from the Fiber Seed..I just loved the colors and I got the cutest felted bag. Aren’t you all proud of me? LOL I did good! Now tomorrow I am going to visit Yarn Truck Tampa Woot Woot!!!
