Friday Favorites: featuring the Ottlite

Who was supposed to tell me about the Ottlite? If you saw my last Facebook live (posted below) you know I am preparing to get my YouTube channel up and running again. My challenge thus far has been lighting, I need you all to be able to clearly see whatever I am trying to display. Insert the all mighty, the all powerful Ottlite. *cue the music*

I was cruising YouTube looking at camera set up situations and this is where I found this amazing light source. We all know the best light is natural light, right? Well since I  don’t have a set up where I can easily take advantage of the sunlight; operation get lights was born.

Initially the price made me simply add it to my wish list on Amazon, because who is broke as a joke? That would be me! LOL unemployment sucks and has it’s benefits. Since I am always online searching I stumbled across a sale at Joann’s. The dual sided Ottlite was 60% off if you ordered online AND they gave a pick up in store option. They only had 3 in the store near me so I ran! If you are interested I found it on Amazon for $49.99, which is half off..so click the pic below

My Review

Can I say love at first light? Listen I plugged this baby in as soon as I got back in the house. One side is so bright that I may get another one, I just need a sponsor! hahahahahaha but seriously let’s talk about my latest favorite thing.

The light is portable and lightweight, so moving it around is very easy. The natural daylight that it promotes is mind boggling. I never noticed the yellow hue in my pictures until I did a comparison. Look:

I also love that it’s dual sided and you can point the light in different directions. When I tell you this was good money spent. Let the filming and live streaming begin. I was considering getting a ring light (fancy stuff) but now that I have this light source I don’t need it. I am super pleased and this light is GG approved! hahahahahahaaa. Honestly I was putting different yarns under the light and fell in love all over again!

Then I went on their website and they have all sorts of models. I am clearly late to the game, because it said for over 25 years, but I am here now!

Do you have a special light you use when crafting? Are you subscribed to my YouTube channel? Well come on over, but no worries I will share the videos here as well,

Happy Friday everyone! Have a great day!

Knit on my fiber friends…knit on

  1. Hi GG! LOL I’m so ignorant of webcasts, when you said “Hi Terry!” I thought you were talking to me, live! LOL OK, re: your set-up: the lighting looks good – I’m not a photographer so I can’t give you any technical advice. However, you probably know by now, it’s the framing that’s a problem? For about half of the video, we can’t see what you’re doing because it’s cut off at the bottom of the frame. I have no idea how you fix that. It’s something that seems to plague a lot of knitting videos. Sorry I have no better technical info, but I love your videos!
