Getting to The Knitty Gritty

We have all heard the phrase get to the nitty gritty right? Nitty gritty is defined as the most important aspects or practical details of a subject or situation. So the name of the yarn store is perfect if you ask me. You didn’t ask me? Well you are reading my blog, so you kinda did! LOL!

img_5302 img_5303 The Knitty Gritty is located in Vero Beach Florida, which for me meant a 2 hour drive. I was invited to visit because Saturday was their 5th birthday and they were celebrating. Happy Birthday KG I am so very happy I took that drive. You guys remember Bri from BriBags right? She makes the cute project bags and I had a give away? You remember, well anyway I had the pleasure of meeting her as she planned this perfect afternoon.  She is just talent squared, not only does she make the bomb bags, she knits her tail off! The picture below is her modeling her Campside by Alicia Plummer. She did it in cotton and it’s fabulous!

I was in love before I walked in because at the door you are greeted with 3 big balls of yarn . What is more enticing to a YarnHo such as myself, than yarn OUTSIDE of the yarn store. Yup they are winning already AND the nice ladies that stopped to make sure I knew about the delicious chocolate chip cookies, LOL!

REASONS I LOVE A YARN STORE

You guys already know what I look for in a yarn store. I need a good selection of yarn (multiple shades of orange is a bonus), a knowledgeable, friendly staff and parking. Knitty Gritty had it all, including some very nice samples. Oh and Ewely how could I forget to mention the mascot, he cutest mascot ever!!

GG what did you purchase? Is that your question? LOL I didn’t get any yarn because I spent a small fortune last time, but I had to support this lovely shop. When I find a good space, I support someway, somehow.

Before I end this post, we must discuss the bathroom with the wall of fame and the designer Melissa Kemmerer. I asked did they have a bathroom and was told  to take my camera. Wait what? Why? Bri said trust me, so I did. If you are on my Facebook page you will see the video I posted. I promise I could have stayed in the bathroom just to read the walls. Of course I had to leave my mark, in orange of course. AND I took a peek at Melissa’s page and yea I will be sharing a few of her designs. It was just an overall awesome day!

  1. O GG! I live about 40 min. from Knitty Gritty and I dearly love the store. Anna is the most helpful owner who an answer all one’s quesions in such a lovely manner. There is always an instructor on duty to help you if you run into trouble with a WIP, for as very nominal fee. Whether you sit and knit, take a class or make a purchase Knitty Gritty is a friendly, well-stoccked store,, I love it!

PS–I fyou get to Boynton Beach, yuu must, must visit Knitters’ Nook. Truly another exceptional place your us Yarn-Hos.

  2. A great yarn store has a lot of yarn, so I can browse all day and still feel like there’s treasure I missed somewhere to be found the next time I visit. And the proprietors of a great yarn shop don’t mind me wandering around the store for a couple of hours admiring the pretties and deciding which wants to come home with me the most!

  3. You always make me laugh. Thank you for that!!!!! I’m not sure how far this is from me, but I will have to check it out!!
Thank you GG for always have such a positive attitude. Even when you weren’t treated fairly (a few blogs/FB post ago), you still held your head up high and went on to enjoy life.
