Hello 2020 Nice to meet you

2020 is 15 days old and this is the first time I am blogging. Happy New Year to you all and forgive me ok? You guys know the holidays are tough for me, I feel like all of December was a blur in my personal life.

December I finished a project and started a new one which I just finished last night. I titled this “Hello 2020” because if my latest project is any indication, 2020 and I will get along just fine.

I don’t know if I shared or not, but, I had the honor of receiving an advance copy of Harry Potter Knitting Magic . The publisher asked that I do a review. I received the book late November I believe and have completed 2 projects. The book will be released on Jan 28, 2020 on Amazon.

The yarn for both projects come from Lolabean Yarn Co. Go ahead and say it, Damn that’s pretty. LOL because that is what I say every time I use her yarn. The designer of both patterns is Dana Williams Johnson.

I know I say this with every project, but I am proud of myself. I enjoyed making both projects, but can we talk about this sweater? You guys know I have an aversion to charts right? Read this so yea, the fact that I even decided to make this sweater was a shock.

The project had charts, german short rows (yikes) and color work. You guys remember that knitter that would have run for the hills, right? The one that would have told herself that she could not knit this sweater? I remember her well and she is nowhere in sight.

My Thoughts

I know folks say New Year, New Me…well not me. The more I knit the more I conquer my fears. This book has a little something for every skill level. If you just started knitting yesterday or have been knitting all your life; you will find a pattern in this book.

The fact that my first FO is not only a representation of my knitting skills, but it also represents my fears, my insecurities and my growth. Come twenty twenty. Let’s do this

GG, both of the patterns are beautiful. However, the sweater is absolutely awesome. I wish it was a crochet pattern.

  2. You are just pure โ€œJersey Girlโ€ through and through. Your tenacity is so inspiring. And your honesty so warming. Happy Knit Year!!โค๏ธ

  3. Hey! Thank you for sharing so much about the start of your new year! I hope you realize how much your knitting adventures help me. I doubt myself pretty often when trying a new knitting pattern. Sometimes I feel like giving up but seeing you conquer so many of your fears gives me courage! As soon as I finish my current project Iโ€™m going to dive into Coco Knits and learn how to knit a sweater-top down- for myself! Thank you, GG. I appreciate you! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’—

Amazing! All three are beautiful. Love your attitude and I am hoping to challenge some of my knitting fears in 2020 including charts and color works. Happy New Year!

I so enjoy reading your blog, watching your youtubes. I’m much older (and I mean much older) than you but I feel I have found a new girl friend. I’m so glad that you have found yourself in knitting. I just want to encourage you to continue what you are doing and more success will follow. Your success is inspiration to others.

  6. I don’t try to knit any more because my arthritis makes it harder to hold on to needles than to a crochet hook. But your courage inspires me anyway. I only ask that you please not forget about your fans who crochet. You have wonderful taste!

  7. That sweater is truly stunning! I love all the colorways you chose. I’m making this year all about me and am about to embark on my first adult sweater…and it’s all for me! I pre-ordered the book in September last year when Dana from DWJ blogged about it and I’m super excited to get the book.

  8. Both projects are beautiful! I hadn’t knit in almost a year until December when I decided that I had to touch needles again. I’m starting with a very basic blanket, but once I’m done with it, I have plans to make some more things and push myself a little harder. Thanks for the inspiration Auntie GG.

  9. Watch out now – that Iconic-isity is showing bright ma’am!! Wishing good orangey happiness for you as always. I love both these projects! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿงก
