It’s Friday and I finished

Finished Friday is here and I have another sweater. Yea you read it right. GG, the queen of doubt, has another finished sweater. This sweater caused quite a ruckus when I posted on instagram. Why GG, is that your question? Well isn’t it obvious? It’s not orange! LOL!

The sweater in question is the Chelsea Sweater by Nancy Ricci. When Nancy posted this sweater a few months back, the kid sent me the pic and requested one in purple. I said ok, with no intentions of making it, because I know my kid. Well at least I thought I did, because a few weeks passed and she asked again. Hmmmm said the mother in me, maybe she is serious. Then she said I would like to wear it to Rhinebeck. OH she really wanted this sweater.

I was at String Thing Studio for Ceci’s birthday party and as luck would have it, Nancy was at the same party. She graciously helped me select the yarn, because the kid loves purple and wanted a fade. My lucky streak continued because Stephanie was having a trunk show. Stephanie owns Asylum fibers, so yea, this sweater had to happen.

This is my second sweater designed by Nancy and I will definitely make another. The pattern was easy to follow and as of late, I find myself appreciating a good schematic. It’s top down, which I love so you can try on and adjust if needed.

I also love doing something new, and this project required holding two threads together. Can I say how many times I had to go back because I dropped one of the strands? You don’t want to know? Ok good. LOL!

The Yarn

Sleeve island, I never understood, I do now. Insert slow eye roll. LOL but I got it done.

Asylum fibers is worth your money, trust me. I was blessed to meet Stephanie last holiday season and have used her yarn a few times at this point. This yarn is her Madhouse base, which is 100% Merino in fingering weight. As you can see, she dyes passionately. The colors are deep, rich and fabulous! I grabbed a kit which is currently on sale. The Haunted House kit can be found here.

Shelbey absolutely loves this sweater, so there is that!

Knit on my fiber friends….knit on

  1. I love this sweater!!! You always inspire me. And it’s okay not to knit in orange. Your daughter is beautiful.

  2. Super duper Gigi. It looks Terrific on her. Congratulations girl.
On another note, I walked into a new retail location of a local dyer here in the greater-Montreal area of winter weather Canada, took one look at her walls of colour and went straight to her oranges. You’ve rubbed off. Told Yara from Artful about your passion for the O and she said she’d be reaching out to you. Be on the look out beautiful for #artfilyarns. Janice
