It's Wednesday and I am working on….

and finally finished my Figichini Woot Woot!  In a previous post I shared this project with you guys. I discovered this StevenBe jackpot and fell in love  during the Stephen & Steven tour. I was able to get another skein of the Knitwhits Freia Handpaints Super Bulky to finish the neckline. I decided on a collar so I improvised a bit from the original pattern.

I had to run to Youtube to find out how you pick up stitches. Can one of tell me why some call it pick up and knit and others simply say pick up? Is there a difference?

Here is what I did:

Picked up 38 stitches. I worked 3 x 3 ribbing until I got to the end and k2. I worked this ribbing back and forth until I got to 8 inches and finished my binding off in pattern.

I come from the time when standing your collar up made you look stylish and I haven’t let that go. I know I may be out of style..but I love my collar 😛 Does that make me old? Ha I don’t care I like it! Of course I used one of my Jul Design closure..yes I did.

IMG_4355LOL I am so sure folks walking past and see me on the porch posing with pjs on below and all dressed up top think I am a complete NUT!! hahahahahaaa

So what are you working on today?

Knit on my Fiber friends…knit on

  1. Now that I am finally sitting still, I am going to finish what was supposed to be my “Big Lace Scarf.” My sister saw it and now it will be hers. Knitting it with Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky in Polar Bear. Beautiful color and so soft. This project is right up your alley…bulky yarn and size 17 needles. I will post pictures when it is finished.

  2. It looks great! The collar really finishes it off nicely.
In answer to your question, there is a difference between picking up stitches and picking up and knitting stitches. The Yarn Harlot made a really great post on it a while ago, complete with pictures (this is actually how I found out that there is a difference between the two) and I can’t explain it any better myself so I figure I will just leave you the link to it here: http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/archives/2009/06/24/pickup_lines.html

  3. It looks great on you! Wish I could knit as fast, but I prefer small needles and because I knit so much, my thumb is throbbing in pain.

  4. I love it! The colour is fantastic.
The first time I had to pick up stitches, I was confused by pick up and knit and pick up stitches also. Maybe it’s the way people were taught … don’t know but I agree it can be a little confusing.
Never mind the crazy looks while you pose on your balcony … a knitter’s gotta do what a knitter’s gotta do. I’m hoping to finish my latest project before the snow melts tomorrow so I can go outside with my dress dummy for a photo shoot. Done that before and got alllllll kinds of looks and comments in BK. 😀
