Knit for food | A knit-a-thon

Knit for food knit-a-thon goes live in 17 days. This will be my second year joining and I want to tell you why this is so important to me.

You know as a kid, I didn’t know what we didn’t have. I didn’t know we were poor because I didn’t have anything/one to use for comparison. I remember last year when it was time for knit for food. I donated a few times through other knitters. It wasn’t until my mother came to me in my dreams, that I decided to knit. The dream was simple. my mother simply said “are you hungry?”

11 years ago I lost my mother and even in a dream she commands my attention. That dream reminded me of how we always had someone at the dinner table. She was always stretching what little we had to feed someone who was hungry. That person was usually a child.

Knit for Food 2022

Last year I joined at the very last minute. I was so very sure I wouldn’t be able to make a difference, but I had to try. I set the initial goal at $5,000 and ended with $20,490 that is split between 4 organizations: Feeding America, Meals on Wheels, Team No Kid Hungry and World Central kitchen.

This year I am knitting for $25,000 and you can help me by donating here or sharing this post with your friends and family. Little GG and kids like her thank you for your help.

Have a fabulous day….on Purpose

  1. It’s so great to have you aboard again this year! I have been knitting with the group for all three years, and I am so touched by the generosity of my friends and guild members. Your story is truly inspiring, and I know you/we will do better than last year and reach many more people. Thank you.
