Ravelry Roundup

I usually start my day browsing what I like to call the Facebook for knitters/crocheters: RAVELRY.  I am sure you are all familiar with Ravelry but if you are not, here is what it says in the about section of the site.

Ravelry is a place for knitters, crocheters, designers, spinners, weavers and dyers to keep track of their yarn, tools, project and pattern information, and look to others for ideas and inspiration. The content here is all user- driven; we as a community make the site what it is. Ravelry is a great place for you to keep notes about your projects, see what other people are making, find the perfect pattern and connect with people who love to play with yarn from all over the world in our forums.

That, my friends is the perfect description of this site and I am hooked. I can and have spent hours in the halls of Ravelry, so if you are not a member, go sign up it’s free :P. You can thank me later.  So what is Ravelry Roundup you say? It will be a weekly feature of what I have found and fallen love with…THAT WEEK! LOL because pick a week and it’s something totally different.  No judging remember?

Ok, so let’s kickoff this post with what I am currently obsessing over, that I found via Ravelry, wait, no I found PluckyKnitter on instagram which lead me to her page on Ravelry. Clearly I am the last person on earth to find out about PluckyKnitter. I can remember seeing a hashtag #plucktober and I was like what is that? I was told it is a month of knitting with Plucky yarn. Well what is Plucky yarn and were can I get some? I has questions and I needed answers. I mean it’s yarn and I am a ho, so I know all the pimps right? WRONG!  Anyway back to why she is/was my entire week last week.

This day I log in with a purpose, that is not normal as I usually roam around and see what I find. I made a bee line straight for her page because she was announcing her winter collection called All Bundled up O MY GOD!!!! Have you seen it? The look book can be found here. I think, no I know, I want to make at least 10 out of the 20 designs.

That infinity scarf, with the contrasting colors, that baby is called SugarLoaf and yup I am making it with Plucky Yarn!!! Woot Woot!!

Why is the tidbit of info exciting? Well getting your hands on her yarn is much like the launch of the latest Apple product. I posted on my FB page asking who was assigned the duty of telling me about PluckyKnitter. Well the responses I got, scared me, I mean who gets cart jacked over yarn? Clearly one must prepare. In my Poppa Pope voice “Come hell or high water, I will get my yarn, because I am the hell AND the high water” Wait, y’all don’t watch Scandal?

faintOk, OK! back to getting my yarn. I can’t believe y’all didn’t know who Poppa Pope was, anyway, I set a reminder on my calendar so I could get in the front of the virtual line.

and waited to hit go!! Since I was in front of the line, I got what I was looking for.Screen Shot 2015-01-12 at 1.36.57 PM Oh please know she sold out in no time flat! Clearly I was tardy for the damn party when it comes to her yarn. I will absolutely do a review when my yarn arrives.

So there you have my Ravelry Roundup, this first one was long, because well I had to explain. Going forward it will be more links to what I am drooling over. If you are on Ravelry let’s connect. I am Sweetdrk1. While you are at it..follow me on FB and IG too!

Knit on my fiber friends….knit on
