Rhinebeck 2019 | The people make the event

One week post Rhinebeck 2019 and I’m still floating on a fiber cloud. For those that are not aware, Rhinebeck is a city in NY where the annual NY Sheep and Wool Festival is held. Every year, during the 3rd weekend of October, thousands of makers head to Duchess County fairgrounds. I think I heard this year they had record breaking attendance and I am so very happy I was there.

The weekend starts with the wildly popular Indie Untangled on Friday. The other popular events that happened on Friday was Needles Up and The Yarn Bazaar. If you didn’t get tickets to one event, you had options. I was Adella’s booth Babe so I was at Indie Untangled all day!

Indie Untangled was a success. I was so very proud of Adella, the Lolabean yarn was flying off the racks!! I left there around 5 to head to our Knit night or should I say String Night (Stringthing Studio knit night hit the road) we had a blast! We had well over 140 folks attend. Everything was good, the food, the fiberfriends..just all of it!

We left there to get some rest for the actual Rhinebeck festival! I have attended quite a few times now and this time was the best so far. This year in our industry has been a challenge, that is a fact. Another fact is the tangible love that was in the air. All walks of life in one spot, happily celebrating what we all have in common….YARN!

Adella was about to embark on her very first experience with the NY Sheep and Wool Festival and I was happy for her! I am happy to report she had a great time.

Day 1

I hugged so many people my arms should have fallen off! I have said it before and I will say it again. We have more in common than not and Rhinebeck proved my theory. The best part of all of these events for me, hands down…the people!

Below is my recap of the weekend, it’s a little over an hour but it’s worth it if you ask me.

Thank you for reading and as always…knit on my fiber friends….knit on

  1. The picture of you in the cowl in front of the orange flowers- you look like a flower come to life. Thanks for spreading the Rheinbeck love. I live on the left coast, and I’m unlikely to ever make that particular trek. But it’s fun to watch through the internet.
