After the Storm Shawl | How to unravel the Fringe

This post will show you my After the Storm Shawl and how to unravel the knitted on fringe.  I am not sure if you all remember the yarn (bamboo bloom handpaint by Universal Yarn) that I grabbed on the NJ WoolWalk. The color is called Sensi and it has 154 yards of yum! Well I saw this shawl that was knit with bamboo bloom, I HAD to have it! It is a thick and thin yarn and I just loved the way it looked. The sample was done in the orange color family so you know I was sold.

I am so very happy with the outcome. I will admit I was a little afraid of just taking the stitches off the needle as the pattern stated, but it worked out fine. This yarn was a joy to work with and the pattern is a side to side shawl with a garter edging. The edging generates the fringe around the border of the shawl.

This yarn is brand new to me and based on this experience, I will purchase it again. It is a Rayon/wool/acrylic blend that feels so very nice! I went down a needle size to get the gauge I liked, then followed the pattern as written. Oh wait, I didn’t knit all the way to 70 stitches before I started decreasing. I thought it would get too big. As you will see in the video I do have a little bit of yarn left. I will make a headband one of these days. Watch the video to see the process.
