The fun is in the finish

The finish, that is the fun part for me..well minus the weaving in of the ends part..but I love when it’s over and you have something to show for your work. The closer I get to the end, the wider the smile that creeps across my face. My only issue is when I am alone, like now, I can’t get the best pictures.

I got this yarn back in August from Karen the Yarnpimpextrodinare with the intentions of making this Poncho to wear to Rhinebeck. Ha! That didn’t happen as we can see, however as always Karen was dead on about this pattern and this yarn. The pattern is Two Harbors Poncho by Sarah Smuland. I selected the recommended yarn which is Blue Sky Alpaca Extra. This yarn is a lovely blend of 55% Alpaca, 45% Merino yum! It is an Aran weight which is the perfect amount of smoosh. If you haven’t tried it, then please do.

IMG_6940I am working again, which means traveling..so I finally cast on and I fell in love immediately with the presentation of the stitches. But you know my love of fat fiber will pull me away, so this was left sitting for a bit. I am in Rochester for awhile and thought it was the perfect travel project and would keep me company in the hotel by myself. Screen Shot 2016-02-20 at 8.52.32 PM

Well once all distractions were removed, it was smooth sailing to the finish line. I was intrigued with the interesting construction and I always love a 3 needle bind off, yes she was enjoying the process. If I had a complaint it would be that I need to improved my skill when it comes to picking up stitches. I can never get them evenly and yea…I need to practice. I also thought it wouldn’t fit my wide body and because it’s purple the kid would claim it….but it fits over all of me. LOL I love the collar and the color possibilities. I am in a hotel so I could’ t block it the way I would at home, but it works and I am pleased.

If you are looking for the perfect piece to throw over a long sleeved tee and jeans, I think this is perfect. The weather here in Rochester was FABULOUS today…perfect day for a piece like this. I really like how the seam generated by the 3 needle bind off is both productive and fashionable.
