Vogue Knitting Live | so much more than the yarn

Yarn!! That is what you think of when Vogue Knitting Live is mentioned right? Especially if you have never attended, your first thought is all that yarn! I know because that was me the first time, the yarn was overwhelming at best. I mean, me being the YarnHo that I am was clearly in heaven,  the fiber goodness was EVERY where.

The best part

This year marks my 3rd time attending and I can honestly say the most important part for me is the people! I can not make you understand the rush I get when I finally meet one of you that I talk to (virtually) every day! Don’t get me wrong, I will never ever tire of all the yarn, that I promise you!  Hands down the people are the best for me. I don’t know which is better, meeting those of you I already knew or meeting/making new fiber friends. You get to meet the designers and yarn makers that you love. Everyone is just so approchable and kind, it warms my heart.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you saw a lot of the pictures already. But this one in particular of me and Ria is my favorite. We have taken a picture each one of the three years we have attended. She travels all the way from London and makes my weekend each time.

The weekend

I think, no I am sure the part the truly tickles me is the number of folks that walk up to Shelbey! Yes my baby was with me and she stole the show. We worked at The BagSmith booth all weekend. We were located on the 6th floor right near the stage and had a blast! My Shelbey learned to Tunisian crochet on Friday and by Saturday she was giving out lessons. I was a proud mama! She was even spotted on CBS on a feature about London Kay, you can check it out here

The day started early as we set up and then the market opened that evening! Busy, fun and plain ole worned out, but I wouldn’t change one thing! I will do a separate post on my goodies, because we MUST discuss the new Alpaca Bump that Becca has at the BagSmith. OH MY GAWD!!

I tried to walk around to some of my favorite booths and touch as much yarn as I could. This weekend is the perfect time too see the latest trends and everyone was selling fur pom poms. They were on hats and even on the shawls and/or cowls. I was impressed with the creativity. I was able to see bits and pieces of the fashion shows AND I got to see the yarn toss! LOL I was too far to participate but it was truly amazing to watch!

Me and the People

I will leave you with some pics of my favorite part of the entire weekend! The people 🙂 I know folks get tired of me asking to take pictures LOL! You gone take this picture and smile dang it! hahahahahahaaaa

If you want to see more pictures head on over to my Facebook page.

Knit on my fiber friends….knit on

  1. The yarn is great, but it’s the being not buying that make VKL so special…getting to see you is always a highlight, you radiate love and joy . This year was extra special as I had the chance to sit and learn and chat with Shelbey, who is the most wonderful girl, just like Mama G.
    Looking forward to next year!
    Love from London
