Vogue Knitting Live, the perfect “Weekend”

 

Vogue Knitting Live was this weekend and I had the best “Weekend” of my knitting life,  pun intended. The Knitting event of the year is held at the Marriot Marquis smack in the middle of Time Square. If you have been following me you know last year I popped my cherry, lol I am a VKL virgin no more!  BUT…I promise you I was excited like it was my first time and I think that was because of Jen Geigley. Let me rephrase that, I know it was because of Jen, I couldn’t wait to meet her and get my book signed. Yea I am a groupie, so what! LOL!

Last week I worked in Rochester NY and didn’t have a flight out until Saturday morning. Well if you are on my social media you know I have the worst luck with flights. They are either delayed or cancelled and Saturday morning was consistent. I was put in a taxi and sent to Buffalo so I could make my connecting flight, because if I missed meeting Jen I was going to cry. Well the travel angels were on my side I made it home, off the plane and on a train to get to Vogue Knitting Live! Let’s go!

The Meetings 

So I get there and make a bee line to Karen and Steven’s booth..that is where the action was happening. I was focused, I didn’t stop at every booth I passed, nope I was on a mission. I get up there and the first person I see is Karen’s husband Fred, I walked up,  introduced myself and got a big ole hug. He was very aware of “GG” because his wife is my YarnPimp! hahahahahahahaa! I was supposed to work with her but that whole making a living thing, but anyway I requested a picture with them both and of course we posed.

I have talked about Do Ewe Knit multiple times, her attention to detail keeps me coming back, she knows me and I dig that! So she said “folks are looking for you GG!” insert blush..who little ole me? She said The Third Piece. SWOON! they were looking for me, ain’t I special! Guys they are the makers of the Funky Chunky yarn that I was flipping out over. Oh goodness I got nervous, because I didn’t have enough money to buy ALL the funky chunky! hahahahahaha yes that thought when through my mind..of course it did! AND YOU are not shocked to read that! LOL you all love me and my insanity! I got me a hug from StevenBe and downstairs we went. To see Carina and Kristen and their FABULOUS yarn. 

They are the absolute cutest and their patterns are to die for. Go ahead and drool over that sweater, I’ll wait.

Ran back upstairs because I was determined to catch Jen and she was set to sign books at 5:30. Listen to me when I tell you she is REALLY my new friend. If I thought I loved her prior to meeting her, OMG you would have never guess that we just met..all the hugging and squeezing that took place was insane. LOL She absolutely is responsible for making this a great weekend. She was so humble, folks kept commenting on my hood and I kept grabbing Jen so they could get their own book, LOL! Folks were like “that’s the Gaptastic lady!” I was like yea!! All proud like I had anything to do with Gaptastic, but damn it, that’s MY Jen! LOL!

That smile says it all and I mean hers not mine. You know mine was bright because I was satisfied. Mission accomplished. I met my Jen.

Then this happened….Yes that is Jacqui Fink and if you don’t know who she is read up here and the next post will be dedicated to her, OMG talk about a fan moment.
