When The Yarn and Pattern are Perfect Together

Yarn is defined as a long continuous length of interlocked fibers, suitable for use in the production of textiles, sewing, crocheting, knitting, weaving, embroidery, or rope-making. If you ask me, I would define it as a lifeline because it has save my life countless times. I digress let’s get into this new base from Lolabean Yarn Co and this Misurina pattern.

If you are following me on Instagram you already know I finished my Misurina by Caitlin Hunter. You may also know that the yarn used is brand new LolaBean (not yet released) yarn base called Birken Bean. This base is 100% organic GOTS certified wool. If you are like me, none of that means anything to you. So let me talk about it from my point of view.

The colors are what first blew my mind (candied yam & brass band) and when I took it out of the packaging, I smiled. She won’t admit it, but she soaks the yarn in Lola’s bath water. I know she does LOL! So yes the yarn is soft, the colors are vibrant, but what kept me intrigued was the springy component. It was like the yarn had a little stretch in it and I like it, a lot!

In each skein you get 430 yarns of 100% GOTS certified organic Merino Wool. It sounds so fancy right? That’s because that is how I felt while knitting. That little bit of stretchiness made such a difference for me. I believe my color work was easier because the yarn was forgiving. Does that make sense? Below you can watch my initial reaction once the blocking was complete.

The Yarn & The Pattern

This pattern and this yarn together, baby it’s right! I am super happy with the material I created, especially after wet blocking. There was a time when I skipped the blocking step with my sweaters, because lazy..but no more. I absolutely adore a blocked sweater, it’s like the fiber comes alive after a bath. The drape is an extra bonus as I didn’t expect that to happen. This material, listen if I wasn’t with me, while I was knitting this…I wouldn’t believe I made it!

The pattern has lace, cables and charts! Whew, but I did it and so can you! I recommend both. As always thanks for reading and commenting.
